BIF Producer Applications Committee Agenda
Chairman: Sally Dolezal, Beef Industry Consultant

Overview:
The Producer Applications session addresses issues of interest to local and national cattle producers regarding how information and technology are used to promote genetic improvement. This year’s program will address the application of producers’ beef cattle data to enhance efficiency at the ranch level, particularly in feeder and carcass merit arenas.

Agenda:
1. Interactive Marketing Session
Dillon Feuz will present an interactive marketing session on a practical approach to selecting the grid to best fit your cattle genetics and to balance risk and profit potential for your cattle, with an emphasis on the need for meaningful performance history. Feuz is a livestock marketing specialist with the University of Nebraska Panhandle Research and Extension Center.

2. Producer Roundtable Discussion
Building on this discussion will be a producer roundtable on using beef cattle records to enhance production efficiency. Iowa State University Extension livestock specialist Darrell Busby and ranchers Mike Kelly of Sutherland, Neb., and Mike Levi of Winner, S.D., will share their experiences in applying production data bases and data management software tools to make herd improvements from cow-calf through carcass merit.

Speakers will give their perspectives on the use of industry information and performance data in decision-making and practical breeding applications in a program you won’t want to miss!
