Tour 2 Ranch Profile:
Graham Land & Cattle Feedyard

Graham Land & Cattle Co. started business in 1987, serving South Texas cattle feeders under the ownership of Dr. Charles W. Graham and of Elgin, TX. Dr. Graham bought the feedyard, formerly Harrell Cattle Co., and has continued growing the business ever since.

Currently the feedyard is co-owned by Dr. Graham and his grandson Tyler Graham. They now have the capacity to feed 30,000 head and background another 15,000 head. They specialize in feeding primarily Brahman-influenced cattle.

"We take great pride in customer service and feel that each rancher or cattleman should have the opportunity to feed his own cattle," says Josh Gray of Graham Land and Cattle. "We do not limit pen sizes, so if you have one head or 10,000 head, then we can feed them for you."

Consulting nutritionist Gary Holcomb of NSA formulates all rations. The feedyard's major energy source is steam-flaked corn. Other ration ingredients include wet brewers' grain, rice bran and cottonseed hulls, topped off with all the necessary supplements.

The feedyard has access to both Panhandle and South Texas packers and is a licensed feedyard for the Nolan Ryan Tender Aged Beef (NRTAB) program. Cattle are individually tagged with bar-coded ear tags that follow the calves from inception into the feedyard to slaughter at the packing plant. Customer service includes personalized risk management, health and feeding programs.

Dr. Graham also owns Sunset Livestock Carriers Inc. and is officed from the same location, providing opportunity to move cattle in a timely and efficient manner. Graham Land and Cattle Co. is located between Austin and San Antonio, about 18 miles south of I-10 on Hwy. 183.
