The following is the preliminary tour schedule for the 2007 Beef Improvement Federation (BIF) Annual Research Symposium and Annual Meeting at the Hilton Fort Collins, Fort Collins, Colo., June 6-9. Please check back for updates periodically. Click on highlighted text for additional information.
  Thursday, June 7 • SPOUSE/FAMILY TOUR
Day Tour to Estes Park and Rocky Mountain National Park
  •Tips: Bring warm clothes/jackets to prepare for a temperature difference     of 20°-30° F and possible snow at the Alpine Center. Your tour guides     on the bus will be representatives from the local Colorado Cattlemen’s     Association and Colorado Cattlewomen’s Association. Availability is     limited for the Spouse/Family Tour, so reserve your seat as soon as     possible.

Tour Stanley Hotel, Estes Park, Colo.
  • The Stanley Hotel, known for its architecture,     magnificent setting and famous visitors, may possibly     be best known today for its inspirational role in     Stephen King’s novel The Shining. The hotel has     been featured as one of America’s most haunted     hotels, and with the numerous stories from visitors     and staff, the Stanley Hotel continues to “shine” today     as it did in 1909 when it first opened.   • The formation of Five Rivers Ranch Cattle Feeding     LLC is a joint venture between the cattle feeding     businesses of ContiGroup Companies Inc. (formerly     Continental Grain Co.) and Smithfield Foods Inc.     Kuner Feedlot was constructed in 1974 and is     currently managed by Nolan Stone.   • Founded in 1965, Aristocrat Angus in 1992 was the     first organization to ship live animals to the Ukraine     and has since exported live cattle, semen and     embryos to Mexico, Canada, Australia, Japan,     Argentina and Costa Rica.

  • For many years at Wardell Angus, Roy, a
    second-generation purebred Angus breeder, sold     bulls and heifers private treaty. In 2000, Roy hosted     the operation’s first production sale. In 2005, he was     joined by Terry and John Walter as partners in the     seedstock Angus business. Walter Farms Inc. bought     a large, high-quality commercial Angus herd to use     for genetic testing of the registered bulls.

  • Five Star Cattle Systems LLC is the continuation of     what started in 1996 as Monfort Integrated Genetics.     Originally owned by Magness Land and Cattle of     Platteville, Colo., and Monfort of Colorado, ConAgra     acquired ownership of Monfort and operated as such     from 2000-2004.
